Mahalaxmi Temple : Daily Routin

At dawn, at 4-30 the temple is opened and feet are worshipped. KaKad Aarati is done and some songs are sung. At 8-30 Maha Pooja. At 11-30 Kumkumarchan & Naivedya is offered. There is Panchamrit Bath also. Vedas are chanted. This goes on till 2 p.m.

In the evening, after 7-30 p.m. Bhog-Aarati after ringing of bells is done. Every Friday Maha Naivedya is offered. Alankar – Pooja is taken off. At 10, Shejarati is done. After some songs, the door is closed & programme ends.

There is a tradition to offer Aarati & Naivedya to other deities also. Different groups of devotees attend different Aaratis. The dishes for Aaratis are made of silver.

[ Note for Foreigners - Aarati is the last part of the procedure of Hindu Idol-worship. It consists of small lights being turned from right to left before the idol. It is accompanied by ringing of bells & chanting praiss which create sublime, tranquil atmosphere ]
